Some companies are doing more than just surviving the tidal wave that is hitting our industry this year. You ride a surfboard to enjoy the ride. Yes the industry is struggling as it goes through huge changes, but we are focused on helping our customers enjoy the ride.
So if you want to be more than a casualty and a lot more than just a survivor, perhaps you should be asking your suppliers some pointed questions:
(1) What is your supplier’s financial strength? Listers can demonstrate 18 months of successive sales increases and have a continuous business history stretching back over 30 years. You want a company that makes you feel secure in their financial stability and continued success.
Listers are happy to provide you with financial statements.
(2) What sort of ‘satisfied customer history’ can your supplier provide for you? What is the longevity of their customers staying with them? Why are their customers buying from them? Is it just because they are cheap? That may be a worry in the current climate. Could your supplier supply you with a list of customer testimonials?
Listers will be happy to do so.
(3) What about your suppliers, suppliers? What's the quality of their profile systems? How do their suppliers view them? Do they view your supplier as a good client? Would their suppliers give them a shining testimonial as to their relationship?
Listers are happy to provide testimonials from all their leading suppliers.
(4) What pro-active steps has your supplier taken to support you and your business? Have they actually gone out of the way to help you capture an order from a customer? Have they invested their own money in marketing materials, brands and product innovations that help you to stand out?
Listers are eager to provide customers with a complete business support system.
(5) What has your supplier done to make it easier for you to ell to your customers? It’s really no good if they are only just starting to look at ways to improve their products and service to you. What have they been doing over the past few years?
Lister have a long history of keeping their customers ahead of the field.
(6) What investment has your supplier been making over the last few years? Have they brought in new manufacturing techniques, CNC machining centres and made improvements to their product range? Or are they still doing it the way they have always done it?
Listers are happy to give you a guided tour of their premises.
(7) What's the culture of your supplier’s business? What are they doing for their own staff? This gives you a good feel about how the company operates. How do their staff feel about working for them? An efficient, motivated and contented workforce can have a huge impact on your own relationship with a business. If the company is not prepared to look after their own employee’s development and welfare how will they look after you?
Listers are happy for you to talk with their employees and it may surprise you to know that even their Directors have a sense of humour.
Whether you choose Listers or someone else as your new supplier, or simply stay where you are, you have to agree that the answers to these questions demonstrate the commitment, determination, stability and enthusiasm of any business to provide you with the very best support in the most difficult of times. Having the right supplier will help your business to survive the tidal wave.
Listers wants you to do more than just survive: They want you to enjoy the ride!
