Energy efficiency has moved into the statute books with a new standard for measuring the thermal performance of windows. All windows now need to comply with building regulations covering energy efficiency. An easy way to assess the energy efficiency of windows is similar to those already found on fridges and washing machines. The ratings run from A to G, with A being the best-performing, most efficient.

        

The Government’s Energy Savings Trust recommend windows have a minimum energy rating of at least C or better.
